Plans

A total can’t decide anything

The free tier gives you a range of wears left, and that is honestly all it gives. What decides whether a pair stays in the drawer is the split between the four functions — and that is what the paid tiers unlock.

What you are paying for

A pair with the cushioning gone but the cuff still holding is finished for long days and perfectly good around the house. That distinction is the whole product, and one number cannot carry it.

Yearly is billed once as a single total and works out around 20% under twelve monthly payments. All prices include VAT at 20%.

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account page, in the same number of steps it took to subscribe, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Consumers have a statutory 14-day cancellation right, and we voluntarily give a fresh 14-day window after every renewal. The full terms are in the terms of service.

How the monthly allowance works

An allowance, not a balance

Every plan includes a set allowance of service usage each month. It measures usage of this service and nothing else: it is not money, not stored value, not redeemable for cash and not transferable.

Whatever is left at the end of the month expires. There are no top-up packs, and there is no stored balance to draw down. If you run out, the only route is moving up a plan, which takes effect immediately and is prorated.

Free includes 50 units a month, Tread 380 and Retire 1,400.

What each action uses

  • A question about a pair you have already read1
  • Reading the visual indicators off a new pair2
  • Generating the four bars and the keep-or-retire card5

A full read of one pair — indicators plus the four bars and the card — comes to 7 units. On Tread that is around 54 pairs a month; on Retire, 200.

Prices

Everything shown includes VAT

Prices are in US dollars and include VAT at 20%. The figure you see on this page is the figure that is charged — nothing is added at checkout, and there are no fees on top of the plan price.

Renewal

It renews until you stop it

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period at the same price, and we email you before every renewal in a message that carries nothing else. If the price ever changes, we tell you first and you can cancel before it applies.

Cancelling

Same number of steps it took to start

Cancel from your account page at any time without contacting anyone. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. See cancellation rights and refunds and disputes.

On every plan, including free

The things that look bad and aren’t are never behind the paywall

A free read-out carries a watermark. That watermark never covers the section that tells you a pair is still fine, and it never covers the notice that sends a question about how your feet feel to a podiatrist instead of to us.

Hiding either of those behind a payment would cause exactly the waste this service exists to prevent.

Two plain knitted socks side by side on a dark bench, one visibly older and fuzzier than the other

The one on the left reads worse and has more left in it. That is the sentence a free read-out will still print for you.

Start on the free tier and move up if you need the split
